Stewardship

There is a time for every purpose under heaven….

Now It’s Time To Give

This time of year often signals a time to examine future plans; it is also an ideal time to make a charitable gift.  A charitable gift can create a lasting legacy to support your church or its mission program.

In addition to the joy it brings, giving at year end can also work to your benefit financially.  Many of the ways you give to the Church offer tax advantages.  Gifts finalized before December 31 enable you to take advantage of a charitable contribution if you itemize deductions on your federal tax return.

There is a special joy and satisfaction associated with giving.

Types of Gifts

A gift of cash is convenient and always gladly received, but other options are available.  A gift of appreciated securities may offer additional tax savings, allowing you to give more than you imagined.

Gifts may be given to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation establishing a life income plan that may provide a favorably taxed source of income for life, as well as a charitable contribution to the beneficiary you designate, such as your church.

A popular gift plan is the charitable gift annuity.  In exchange for your gift, the gift annuity pays you, or the individual(s) you designate, annuity for life.  You will be eligible for a charitable deduction, and a portion of the payments will be tax-free.

A Gift Annuity May Be The Perfect Gift

A gift annuity is an excellent gift for a parent or other loved one to supplement their income.  The remainder can also be a lasting legacy to your church.  While you may benefit from the deduction, the income recipient will receive payments for life.

Timely Information

If you’d like more information about gifts to the Church, consult your pastor about setting up a meeting with your Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation Development Officer.  He or she can provide valuable information regarding cash gifts, gifts of stocks, bonds or property and other giving plans such as a Charitable Gift Annuity, Pooled Income Fund and Charitable Remainder Trusts.

Or, if you wish, call the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation toll free at 1-800-858-6127, or write to Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation, 200 East Twelfth Street, Jeffersonville, IN 47130.

Ways to Give

Choose the type of gift according to what best suits your situation.  Just be sure to give before the rest of the year slips quietly away:

  • CASH
  • APPRECIATED SECURITIES
  • LIFE INCOME PLANS

Consider long-term planning to include a charitable gift in your estate plans:

  • CHARITABLE BEQUEST
  • RETIREMENT ACCOUNT ASSETS
  • LIFE INSURANCE
As with any matter concerning your financial affairs, you are encouraged to make an appointment with your financial advisor to discuss your plans.
