The Worship, Music, and Arts committee is
responsible for supporting all aspects of the Worship service. Perhaps
our most important function is scheduling of volunteers to serve as
Worship Leaders, Ushers, Greeters, Candle Lighters, Peace Candle and
Prayers, Communion servers, and Advent Candle lighters. We also
schedule volunteers to prepare the sanctuary for worship by performing
such tasks as cleaning the pews and pew racks, sharpening and replacing
pencils, arranging Hymnals and Bibles, etc. Nearly everyone in the
church will be asked from time to time to perform one or more of these
tasks.
We also prepare the Communion elements for each service where Communion
is served. We change the paraments as required to reflect the color of
the church season, maintain the candles, and are responsible for
sanctuary decoration and supplies. The committee recommends to session
dates to schedule Communion and Baptism. We support the Clergy staff in
scheduling special services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and
Christmas Eve. We arrange for Easter flowers and poinsettias for
Christmas. We support the music ministry team in all of their endeavors
both for worship services and special events.
