Adult Mission Trips

HPC held a mission trip to New Bern, North Carolina to respond to God’s call in helping to rebuild homes in a community that was one of the hardest hit by torrential flooding during Hurricane Florence. Our volunteer team of 10 members was hosted by PDA partner Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders and Cornerstone Church in New Bern. The team’s service helped restore a home for a family who had been displaced for over a year while also making significant progress in rehabbing a new center for volunteer lodging. Daily devotions were an important part of this ministry as the team reflected on God sightings they had witnessed during their daily service.

Our Daily Bread

Located in the Over The Rhine area of downtown Cincinnati for over 35 years, Our Daily Bread is the city’s largest soup kitchen serving 300-400 complete, hot, nutritional meals per day with 100% donated food. In addition, they provide social work services, a Kid's Club, and an after-school program. They are a beacon of hope and stability to the needy and neglected in the community. About 25-30 volunteers work every day, preparing, cooking and serving food and bussing tables. For over 20 years, HPC members have been volunteering at Our Daily Bread. We currently provide about 100 man-hours a month in support of the homeless and unemployed in the city.

Mary Haven Youth Center

Mary Haven is a youth facility in Warren County to help troubled teenagers. HPC visits them once a month, doing activities with them, such as educational (emergency auto repair) or social board games. We provide snacks and drinks, and finish with a song and a prayer. The teens are appreciative of the time we spend with them, showing them the Christian spirit of love and forgiveness.

Congregational Christmas Card

During Advent, a large Christmas “card” located in the HPC atrium provides a depository for giving to local charities, and a location for writing a Christmas greeting to fellow HPC members in lieu of mailing cards. Participants are invited to sign the card and make a donation in the amount they would normally spend on sending Christmas cards.
