Parenting in the Pews

​At Heritage, we value the importance of welcoming children into worship. Children bring special gifts to the worship service.  They will grow in faith through their regular inclusion and participation, and will learn through modeling adults during worship. But like any discipline, children need instruction in new activities. Consider these age appropriate activities to help our children learn how to worship.

Nursery: Birth - 2 Years

​Our youngest worshippers are welcome in the Sanctuary with family, or in our Nursery with a loving caregiver.

Wee Worship: Ages 3-5

​Following the children’s message, children are invited to WEE WORSHIP for worship geared to preschoolers.  Songs, prayer, story, & craft are included in this time to praise God and learn about His love. 

Children in Worship Workshops: 1st. - 3rd Grade

​Once a month, children and their parents gather during Sunday school time for CHILDREN IN WORSHIP WORKSHOPS where they learn how and why we worship.  Communion, Acolyte training, and lessons about “What to Do When I’m in the Pew” are included.

Worship Bags: All Ages

​ Age appropriate WORSHIP BAGS are available during worship. More than coloring sheets, this bag of resources helps to guide children through the scripture and order of worship. Child friendly Worship Notes are included to guide listening skills during the service and provide some conversation starters for home.

Taking Faith Home: All Ages

In our weekly worship bulletin, a flyer by Milestones Ministry, offers family devotions and conversation starters about the week’s lectionary Bible readings.
